OILS is a society dedicated to the welfare of its members. OILS was formed to meet the career needs of alumni law students. The Society’s interests now include IGS students who are contemplating a career in the law, under-graduates applying for seasonal clerkships and alumni lawyers during their early years of practice. Membership of OILS is open to anyone entitled to be a Life Member of the OIGA who has a law degree or is studying law. OILS is based on the premise that advice freely given by experienced, well-intentioned professionals is rare and valuable.
OILS has recorded a large number of podcasts that can only be accessed by members. In them, alumni share their experiences, observations and insights of the law. The recordings cover all ages and circumstances, from Partners of major law firms to law students applying to be seasonal clerks. The topics of conversation are equally diverse. These podcasts are an enduring gift from one generation of alumni to the next.
